Monacolin K
Red Yeast Rice is naturally extracted from rice fermented with the yeast Monascus Purpureus.
Cholesterol is largely produced by the liver. Monacolin K, the active ingredient in red yeast rice extract, prevents the liver from getting the signal to do so.
As a result, less cholesterol is produced than normal. This lowers cholesterol, and thus lowers bad LDL cholesterol.
